How Karfarol Games found millions of players by looking locally

Learn how Karfarol Games increased its ad revenue and visibility with Yango Ads Ad Network

Back in March 2021, my friends Goga Gorgodze, Gulnaz Batyrshina, and I decided to start Karfarol Games. It was a bold move – the only budget we had was from personal bank loans. But we wanted to create mobile games that were fun but also useful, so we focused on games for learning English.  

Our games have been downloaded over 15 million times worldwide, and our most popular game, Momo English, recently hit 10 million downloads on Android. It’s been translated into more than 30 languages including some rare ones like Georgian and Slovak.

We knew how to monetize our games

Most of our growth has come from paid advertising and some in-app purchases. We’ve worked with several ad networks over the years and know a thing or two about monetization.  

But, we had a problem in CIS markets

By 2024, we were doing well overall, but there was one area where we felt we could do better — CIS countries like Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. These regions weren’t performing as well as others in terms of ad revenue, and we wanted to ensure a good auction in those markets specifically. That's why we needed an ad network that could help us reach the right advertisers.  

That’s when we decided to try the Yango Ads Ad Network. What caught our attention was how well the network seemed to perform in CIS markets. They offered strong eCPM rates and optimized key ad formats like interstitials, rewarded ads, and banners for those regions. So we integrated Ad Network into our mediation platform — and the results were pretty impressive right away.

Ad Network by Yango Ads has definitely been a good addition for us. In Russia alone, their eCPM rates were higher than what we were getting from other networks:

Now, CIS countries make up about 3.7% of our total revenue — that’s significant because these markets weren’t contributing much before we started working with Yango Ads Ad Network. It’s been great to see them become a meaningful part of our strategy.

Overall, I’m really happy with how Yango Ads has performed for us. It’s helped us get new opportunities in regions we weren’t fully using before while keeping our revenue strong across the board. It’s definitely been a win for Karfarol Games.
