How a utility app from China doubled revenue and navigated platform challenges with App Monetization by Yango Ads

A China-based internet safety app with a large mobile user base in Russia and Kazakhstan needed a more effective way to monetize its app.

Challenge

Monetizing a utilities app across tightly regulated markets was no small task. The publisher relied on ads and subscriptions, but lacked a strong ad monetization platform that worked reliably in Russia and Kazakhstan. With only two ad formats (interstitial and native), and a history of App Store removals and some access issues, revenue was volatile. 

Solution

From the start, Yango Ads App Monetization gave the publisher a solid foundation: eCPM landed between $1.46 and $1.80, and daily revenue reached $800. But to grow further, the Yango Ads team took a hands-on approach — tailoring the strategy to the publisher’s tech stack, traffic profile, and ad format limitations. They gradually brought in more ad networks and fine-tuned delivery to increase impressions and improve fill rate. Over time, this pushed daily revenue up to $1,200, even as eCPM adjusted to a stable $1.40.

But growth wasn’t without setbacks. In December, the app faced another platform ban. Still, the publisher stayed the course — backed by consistent technical and strategic support from Yango Ads.

Results 

Recovery came quickly. ARPU climbed back to 0.0033, daily revenue returned to $900–$1,200, and fill rate steadily improved. By March, the publisher had surpassed all previous benchmarks: ARPU reached 0.0050, eCPM held strong at $1.40–$1.50, and peak daily revenue eventually hit $1,600 – double of where they started. 

Over the full period, monthly earnings grew from $19,500 to $29,000 — a clear sign of stable, scalable monetization.
